ScrQA does not collect, track, transmit, or sell your personal data. All screen recordings, audio tracks, and captured screenshots are processed in-memory and stored strictly on your local device (in your browser's IndexedDB and local storage). Zero recordings or images are ever transmitted to remote servers, external cloud services, or the developer.
1. Single Purpose & Scope
ScrQA is designed for a single purpose: capturing screen, window, and browser tab video recordings with simultaneous audio mixing, capturing instant screenshots with an annotation editor, and managing media files locally offline.
This Privacy Policy applies to the ScrQA Chrome Extension (Manifest V3) published by Native Bytes.
2. What Data We Handle
A. Screen Recordings & Screenshots
When you record a screen, window, or tab, or capture a screenshot, the media streams are captured using standard Chrome extension APIs (chrome.tabCapture and navigator.mediaDevices.getDisplayMedia).
- Processing: Video encoding and audio mixing are performed entirely locally in your browser's offscreen document and web worker context.
- Storage: Saved recordings and screenshots reside exclusively in your browser's local
IndexedDBstorage on your machine. - Export: Files are saved to your local disk only when you click "Download" or "Copy to Clipboard".
B. User Preferences & Settings
The extension stores user preferences (video resolution, frame rate, audio defaults, theme, and optional license key) in chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your browser.
C. Analytics & Telemetry
ScrQA contains zero telemetry, zero analytics scripts, and zero tracking pixels. We do not monitor how often you record, what you record, or your browsing activity.
3. Chrome Permissions & Plain-English Justifications
ScrQA requests only the minimum necessary permissions required to fulfill its core functionality in accordance with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use policy:

4. Optional Payments & Third-Party Services
A. ExtensionPay (Stripe Checkout)
ScrQA offers optional PRO upgrades (4K resolution, Zoom/Meet audio separation) using ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), a secure payment library designed for browser extensions.
- Payments are processed securely via Stripe. ScrQA never receives, processes, or stores your credit card number or bank credentials.
- The extension uses a content script matching

B. Buy Me a Coffee (Developer Tips)
Users who wish to support independent development can voluntarily tip via Buy Me a Coffee. Clicking the tip button opens an external link in a new tab. No data is exchanged between the extension and Buy Me a Coffee.
5. Data Retention, Control & Deletion
Because all data is stored on your device, you have complete and total control:
- Delete Recordings: You can delete any recording or screenshot individually or in bulk from the built-in Library page.
- Clear Everything: Clearing your browser site data or uninstalling the ScrQA extension instantly deletes all stored recordings, screenshots, and preferences from your device.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
ScrQA is a general audience tool and does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, ScrQA fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
7. Policy Changes & Contact
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
